Visit of Representatives of the British Embassy to Coventry University Kazakhstan
Coventry University Kazakhstan welcomed representatives of the British Embassy for an engaging lecture dedicated to gender equality and women’s rights, offering students an opportunity to explore global and local perspectives on inclusion and social development.
The session was led by Jessica Stroud, Regional Gender and Equalities Adviser at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Larissa Kanafina, Political and Governance Analyst at the British Embassy in Astana. The speakers presented research-based insights into gender equality, with a particular focus on women’s rights in Kazakhstan, supported by comparative international data and statistics.
During the lecture, the speakers discussed global trends in gender equality, challenges faced by different regions, and policy approaches aimed at promoting equal opportunities. Special attention was given to Kazakhstan’s context, encouraging students to critically assess progress, remaining gaps, and the role of education in driving social change.
The discussion fostered active student participation, prompting thoughtful conversations around leadership, inclusion, and the importance of evidence-based policy in advancing women’s rights.
