Coventry University Kazakhstan has signed a memorandum on the construction of a new modern campus in Astana, covering approximately 30,000 sq. m.

Coventry University Kazakhstan, part of the Primus Education group, has signed a memorandum with the Akimat of Astana and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The agreement concerns the opening of a new university campus in the capital. The document was signed at the KGIR-2026 Investment Roundtable in Shymkent in the presence of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
The memorandum was one of 22 documents signed at the forum. KGIR-2026 brought together more than 500 investors and business representatives from over 40 countries.
“For us, this is a strategically important project aimed at creating a modern ecosystem for education, research and innovation. Our long-term strategy envisages the establishment of two major university campuses in Astana and Almaty, which will become centres for educating highly qualified professionals, conducting research and collaborating with industry.
With the support of Primus Capital and Coventry University, we are steadily implementing this strategy. In 2024, the first Coventry University Kazakhstan campus was opened in Astana, and in 2026, we expanded our presence by opening a campus in Almaty. The next phase will involve the development of modern university infrastructure, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, advanced engineering and technology transfer. Our goal is not only to provide high-quality British education, but also to create new knowledge and technologies that contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s economy,” said Miras Daulenov, President of Coventry University Kazakhstan.
The campus will be constructed in phases and will have a total area of approximately 30,000 square metres. It will include academic buildings, administrative facilities, public spaces, a library, IT infrastructure, and dedicated areas for student events and collaborative projects.
A 400-bed student residence is also planned. It will include residential rooms, kitchens, and dedicated areas for studying and recreation.
The University is a fully established campus of Coventry University in the United Kingdom. It delivers Coventry University programmes and awards British degrees.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education is ready to support the University in establishing connections with relevant government bodies. The parties aim to make high-quality higher education more accessible to talented young people, including high-achieving school graduates and winners of academic competitions.
